🌊 an exploration of sound, space, and movement, wondering what stories might exist in places celestial, vacuumous, and the everyday. the exercise in these tracks was to work primarily with samples recorded in daily life, for example :

- lunar new years firecrackers
- hinoki bucket in sulfur hot springs
- rain falling on metal roofs
- summer cicadas and thunderstorms
- processions ringing through mountains
- sleepy pillow-talk
- street noise and cats
- rivers and birds
- messages to/from loved ones
- various instruments (中胡, 古筝, 簫) and more

some thoughts from a friend that I feel capture the essence of the album :

"it’s utterly moving n each track is such a journey. brings the topography of inner world to life n also makes me think of daoist monks in this book who described doing astral projection to these bamboo mountains in this other dimension where they had to fight a lot of crazy looking spirits to search for someone’s soul when they were in a coma. They would rly map out these mountains too so the other monks when doing astral projection could follow their map...So many sounds in this were evocative of natural world but also distorted in a way that made me feel like I was in a world sort of like this one but warped just beyond recognition." - cissy yu
